Catch-up FAQs

  1. Can I watch TV on Jump-in?

Totally. Jump-in lets you watch shows from 9, GO! or GEM. If you're on the computer, just go to the website and, um, jump in. To watch on your tablet or phone, grab the app and you're ready to go. Jump-in streams your favourite shows straight to you.

  2. Wait. What is streaming?

Streaming means you don't have to download a giant file before you start watching – you can watch your shows without waiting because Jump-in grabs them as it's going. You just need to make sure your browser (like Chrome, Firefox or IE) is updated, and that you've got a version of Flash that's younger than your car. Get the latest version here

  3. How soon can I watch a show?

We put shows on Jump-in as soon as we’re allowed to. We always wait for the shows to air on TV around the country. Usually by midday the day after airing you’ll find them online.

  4. How can I see all the shows available on Jump-in?

Go to the "Catch-up" page on Jump-in. They're in alphabetical order, or you can use the menu on the right to browse by genre. To watch movies, click on the "Movies" tab.

  5. Do I need anything special to watch shows on Jump-in?

Not really. A decent internet connection is a must because we're sending you the video over the net. You'll need an up-to-date browser and Flash too. You'll probably get a better experience if you don't have a million tabs open.

  6. How much bandwidth will I use watching a clip on Jump-in?

Streaming videos almost always count towards your download limit – that's true whether they're on Jump-in, YouTube or somewhere else.

A 22-minute TV show (the length of a half-hour without the ads) will take about 300MB, or a third of a gig (GB). A 42-minute show (TV hour) will take about 600MB. We stream at a lower quality if your connection is a bit slower, so it might be less

  7. How long do I have to watch something after it's been on TV?

It depends on the agreement we've got with the people who made it, and it'll vary from show to show. We list the expiry date next to the season and episode number on the site.

  8. Why do I have to watch ads?

We think you should be able to watch your shows online for free, so we sell some video and banner ads instead of charging people to use Jump-in. We think it's a far better way to cover costs than asking you for money.

  9. The ads aren't working properly?

We want Jump-in to be easy, fun and free. If you have problems, load the feedback form tell us and we'll fix them.

  10. Why are my favourite TV shows not on Jump-in?

We want to get all the shows we can on Jump-in. Some shows are harder to get online rights for than others, but we're working on all of it. If there's something you really want that's not there, let us know and we'll do our damndest to make it happen.

  11. Why do I keep getting a message saying "this clip is not available" in my area?

You can only watch our content if you are currently in Australia. If you're in Australia and you're getting this message, it's because your IP address looks like it's overseas. Get in contact and we'll sort it out.

  12. Why do I only see the loading symbol where the video should be?

You might have a security measure that's blocking the video. Add the Jump-in site and app to your firewalls list of trusted sites. If you use parental controls, add it there as well.

The loading symbol will also be there while the video's actually loading.

  13. I have a fast broadband connection, why am I still having issues?

There could be a couple of things going wrong. High-traffic times of day can mean slower speeds. For people with ADSL, proximity to the telephone substation can be an issue. If there are a few of you sharing a single connection through a modem or router, that can also affect speed.

If your wireless connection is dropping in and out, that can cause issues as well.

  14. Where can I find out more information about the show I'm watching?

    Here

  15. When can I find out when a show is airing on TV?

    Here

  16. I am trying to watch videos and it doesn't work. What could be the problem?

Many browsers and security programs include "ad-blocking" protection. If you are experiencing problems playing video go through your security programs currently running and check & disable any ad-blocking or web blocking features.

  17. Why is my video not loading?

You may have AdBlock software running on your particular browser which prevents the video from playing. Please check your browser settings and, if you have an adblocker selected you will need to disable the Adblocker to watch video. If you are having trouble finding these options, drop us a mail through our feedback form and we will get back to you with some suggestions.

  18. I can't watch my show because of "content licence restrictions". What does this mean?

We have contracts with all our show providers and, unfortunately, we cannot put all our shows online yet. We are working hard to get as many shows as we can for you to view whenever you want to, where ever you want to.

  19. What does "DRM" stand for?

Digital rights management (DRM) is an approach to copyright protection for digital content. We have DRM to ensure that we can bring you your favourite shows on a range of devices.

App FAQs

  1. Do I have to pay for the Jump-in app?

    Nope. Jump-in is FREE.

  2. What devices is the Jump-in app available on?

Jump-in is available on iPhone and iPad.

  3. Why can't I get it on my Android phone or tablet?

We're working on it. Watch this space.

  4. Where do I download the app?

    Here.

  5. What does the reminder do?

You can set reminders and we'll let you know five minutes before your show is on the TV. If you use Jump-in on both iPhone and iPad, log in and we'll sync your reminders so you don't miss anything.

  6. Are there show pages available for shows on networks outside of Channel 9?

At the moment the extra content is just for Channel 9 shows.

  7. Can I get Jump-in if I am overseas?

You can only get Jump-in if you've got an Aussie App Store account and our video content is restricted to Australia. The good news is we provide a lot of other content including show casts, bios and pictures that will be available even when you travel.

  8. Why can't I hear any sound on the video I am watching?

Is the mute button on? We make that mistake too!

  9. The live poll results in the show page are different to what they are showing on TV?

We get poll votes around the clock. You might need to refresh the poll data for up-to-the-minute results. To do this, just pull down on the panel where the poll is featured.

  10. I am trying to watch a video but all I can see is the loading symbol?

Some videos will take longer to get started than others. But if it takes longer than a minute, to load, check your Wi-Fi connection or 3G to make sure you are connected.

  11. Why is my tweet from Jump-in not showing up in the show Twitter feed?

It could be one of a couple of things. First off, please make sure you don't use any naughty words as these tweets will be blocked from the feed! Some shows on Jump-in only feature tweets from the cast or hosts of the show, but your tweet will still be part of the online discussion as long as you use the right #hashtag.

  12. Did you guys know how great Jump-in would be once you're up and running on it?

    We had an inkling. Thanks!
